Results of the software approach
The software package was called OrientAL, referring to the important step or orienting the archaeological aerial images (German: Archäologische Luftbilder or AL). OrientAL relies on the exterior orientation values provided by the GNSS/IMU or computes them automatically during the SfM step. Besides the relative image orientation, OrientAL also aims to automate the process of absolute orientation by automatically extracting GCPs from existing datasets.
